Bru Burger Video Story Adobe Draft

The theme of my video of course had to do with food. I wanted to shoot something about my favorite food, so I immediately chose cheeseburgers. I knew the topic would be somewhat easy to cover as I work part time in a burger restaurant. The filming process took place during my shift. I would start by just start covering some of the dishes as they came up in the window. It was somewhat difficult because as food would come up I just wanted to film it as opposed to take it to the customer. I got a lot of great shots but although I filmed a lot of food I knew to take the film to the next level I had to interview someone. Editing and putting the project together wasn’t as time consuming as I thought it would be. It took a total of 6 hours. The hardest part was piecing everything together because once I downloaded everything into premiere it was jumbled up. I also had to film the narration separately as I knew I wanted to be talking in the background all the while showing dishes and the restaurant. So after figuring what was the beginning, middle, and end I began to put everything in order which took a lot of snipping. I also had to listen extremely carefully as there were times I would clip something out that I could’ve used. In addition there were a lot of things that I didn’t need to use. I thought I didn’t have enough film but it turned out that I had entirely way too much. But I rather have had too much material at my disposal than not enough.

My story relates to my topic because its food and it’s my passion, I once tried to deviate from the topic and a suggestion I received was, “I like when you cover food, you should do that” so I stuck to what I know best. Besides what’s a food blog with food on it? I do wish that I could’ve used a more proficient camera to capture my material, I used my iPhone which was sufficient but filming automatically had me thinking I was Steven Spielberg and immediately I began looking at quality cameras. I enjoyed this project a lot. Specifically the editing process. I found myself resorting a lot to what we learned in the tutorials, especially when it came to adding text. I wanted the viewer to interact even if it was just a little bit so I thought I’d add text boxes instead of reading questions aloud.

Overall I’m excited about how the project came out, and am really excited to get back to work on it after everyone’s feedback. This video was a great way to express myself creatively and through a medium I love most. Food! I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I had fun making it!

  1. Hi Dae, your video story draft is really good, I enjoyed watching it. I particularly enjoyed the introduction to the video as it set the scene and gave brief, yet great, information of what’s to come. The shots of the restaurant from the outside, inside, the food, etc. were all really great. Your narration was also really good. I have a few suggestions, one I’d have all the questions appear on the same spot of the screen every time, it was a bit too all over the place, you can also make them a bit bigger and centered since you have the whole screen to work with. I also noticed in one of the answers from Tim, he gets cut off at the end (1:13), his ‘um’ is heard and cuts off a bit abruptly. Finally, on your last shot ‘The End’ I would either get rid of the audio, use a different audio background from another recording, leave it silent or add music instead (figured I’d give lots of options to try), because the current audio is too fussy. Overall, I enjoyed the feel of your video story and how it was edited, you did a really good job!

  2. I think your advice that I got was pretty good I think for example I really could have put my entire font in one place on the screen. I didn’t notice but it seemed as if everyone else thought because of the font not being in one place on the screen that I felt jumpy as opposed to me thinking I want to my audience to pay more attention so that I would move the words. So next time I’ll keep them in one location as well as make them bigger. Another piece of advice that I got was to trim the interview a lot better. I feel as though this was pretty difficult because though I had a great interview with Tim he still provided few yet heard “ums”. Which could’ve been left out. I also want to take Sinaisa’s advice and put different audio in the background. I originally wanted to use forks and knives rattling a play as opposed to music because I felt like forks and knives represented a restaurant better, as I tried to find the right vibe of music. I was really excited about my video before but now with the advice that I got in the tips that I have I really do think I can make it a all-around better piece.
